Introduction: Basement Transformation Project Overview
This Westchester family of four desired a multifunctional space that catered to their varying needs and preferences, including a spa, gym, home-theatre and lounge with fireplace and custom bar. Our design goal was to offer the family, not only a functional space, but also a unique, luxurious experience that includes an integrated sound system, unique, color-coordinated LED lighting and curated art program throughout.
THE GYM features separate zones for weight training and yoga as well as all the state-of-the art equipment needed for a well-rounded workout.
THE SPA, adjacent to the gym, provides a tranquil space for rejuvenation and incorporates a spacious teak and glass sauna, jacuzzi, cold plunge tub, recovery area and bathroom. Seamless limestone wall treatments and flooring throughout complete this spa.
THE LOUNGE offers a soothing, relaxing location for unwinding with family and friends or enjoying a book while warming at the fireplace with a cocktail from the custom built-in bar. Hand-troweled, seamless limestone wall-finishes, blackened steel fireplace surround, custom chandelier, seating, coffee table, console, privacy screens, rugs and murals elevate this room from its below-level confines.
STATE-OF-THE-ART HOME THEATRE. Spread out on one of the recliners or lounges and enjoy an immersive surround-sound theatre experience. Jewel toned padded silk and tufted tartan walls offer rich tonality in a sound-proofed environment.
Thoughtful, innovative design choices that include soft textures, a warm color palette, strategically placed lighting, artisan finishes and bespoke furniture pieces can stylishly upgrade a dark, dreary basement into a sophisticated, refined, intimate escape, waiting just below the surface.
